A family-friendly North London museum. Built in 1898, the museum was originally a pumping station supplying drinking water to London. Having lain dormant for a number of years the Enfield and District Veteran Vehicle Trust (entirely self funding and staffed by volunteers) breathed new life into this spectacular old building, converting it into a museum. The well can still be viewed upon request! The museum's vast collection is housed over 5 floors in the main building, railway coach, outbuildings, fire station and commercial vehicle hall. We have classic vehicles from the last 120 years, motorcycles, bicycles and pedal cars, model vehicles , vintage toys, typewriters to try out, WW2 ephemera and many items of local and social history. We have several fire engines including 'Madeleine', a 1912 machine, classic trucks and a 40s ambulance. There is an autojumble shop for that elusive part and model railways running in a converted railway carriage. Our cafe serves snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice creams from 10-2. There is also a picnic area for those sunnier days. Wheelchair access is only possible to the ground and first floor and to the outside facilities. There is a lift to the first floor only. Please note that the lift is closed as it is being updated, completion by mid-October
