The Museum chronicles the product culture of the 20th & 21st centuries, a culture marked by mass production & industrial manufacturing. At the core of our institution is the archive of the Deutsche Werkbund. Founded in 1907, this group of German artists, designers & manufacturers was one of the leading organizations pushing for a cultural utopia achieved through design & way-of-life reforms. The museum is as an autonomous organization, aware of & stemming from this Werkbund tradition. Our goal is twofold: to preserve & document material associated with & advocated by the Werkbund & to foster contemporary interpretation & reflection thereupon.

Werkbundarchiv – Museum der Dinge has 1 rating.
The Werkbundarchiv – Museum der Dinge (Museum of Things) in Berlin offers a distinctive look at everyday objects and their design evolution. Visitors often appreciate the museum's extensive collection of household items, which spans from the early 20th century to the present day. The exhibits showcase how design has changed over time, reflecting societal shifts and technological advancements.
Many reviewers find the museum's approach to be innovative, as it encourages visitors to reconsider the role of everyday objects in our lives. The curated displays are generally well-organized and provide context for the items, helping visitors understand their historical and cultural significance.
However, some visitors note that the museum is relatively small and can be explored quite quickly. Additionally, a few reviewers mention that the lack of extensive English translations for all exhibits can be a drawback for non-German speakers, although basic information is usually available in English.
The museum's location in a former factory building adds to its charm, but some visitors find the space a bit cramped or difficult to navigate. Despite these minor issues, many visitors conclude that the Werkbundarchiv offers an engaging experience for those interested in design, material culture, and the history of everyday objects.
While not necessarily a top attraction for all tourists in Berlin, the Museum der Dinge is often recommended for design enthusiasts, students, and those looking for a less conventional museum experience in the city.
