The Washington Park Zoo is a unique attraction located in Michigan City, Indiana. It spans across 15 acres of land, situated on a hilly sand dune near the southeastern tip of Lake Michigan. This location not only provides a beautiful backdrop for the zoo but also creates a unique environment for the animals.
The Washington Park Zoo is home to a diverse range of animals, with over 220 animals from 90 different species. These animals originate from various parts of the world, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about and appreciate the diversity of wildlife.
The Washington Park Zoo is undergoing modernization to enhance the living conditions of the animals. The aim is to create natural settings for the animals, surrounded by botanical plantings. This not only improves the well-being of the animals but also provides a more authentic experience for visitors.
