The Walter McDonald Sanders House is a historic house located in Bluefield, Tazewell County, Virginia, United States. It is the centerpiece of the Sanders House Center complex. This house is a significant part of the local history and offers a glimpse into the architectural style of the late 19th century.
The Walter McDonald Sanders House was constructed between 1894 and 1896. It is a large two-story, three-bay, red brick house built in the Queen Anne style. An additional two-story, brick over frame structure was added to the house in 1911. This architectural style and the history of the house's construction provide a unique insight into the period's building techniques and aesthetics.
In addition to the main house, the property also includes a limestone spring house, a frame smokehouse that houses a railroad museum, a frame granary, and an early-20th century small frame dwelling known as the Rosie Trigg Cottage. The Rosie Trigg Cottage is currently home to the Tazewell County Visitor Center. These additional structures add to the historical significance and charm of the property.
