Villa Pisani at Stra is a monumental, late-Baroque rural palace located along the Brenta Canal near the town of Stra, in the Veneto region of northern Italy. This villa is one of the largest examples of Villa Veneta located in the Riviera del Brenta, the canal linking Venice to Padua. The villa and gardens now operate as a national museum, and the site sponsors art exhibitions.

Complex and Gardens of Villa Pisani

The villa shelters a large complex with two inner courts and acres of gardens, stables, and a garden maze. From the outside, the façade of the oversized palace appears to command the site, facing the Brenta River some 30 kilometres from Venice. The broad façade is topped with statuary, and presents an exuberantly decorated center entrance with monumental columns shouldered by atlantes.

Art Exhibitions at Villa Pisani

The villa hosts exhibitions of ancient, modern and contemporary art. The halls host 150,000 visitors a year. In the past, the villa has hosted exhibitions such as 'I classici del contemporaneo' and 'Extradimensionism' by Paolo Aldighieri, an important exhibition by Mimmo Paladino, 'Impressionismo a Venezia, 1879–1933' by Emma Ciardi, and 'Tutto score' by Oliviero Rainaldi.

The museum is set in expansive, well-maintained grounds that include a maze and beautiful gardens, which many visitors find impressive.

The villa's interior features ornate frescoes, period furniture, and lavish decorations that showcase the wealth and artistic tastes of its former inhabitants. The ceiling fresco by Giambattista Tiepolo in the ballroom is particularly noteworthy and often mentioned as a highlight by visitors.
