The Vandenberg Space Force Base is a significant military base in the United States, located in Santa Barbara County, California. It has been under the jurisdiction of the United States Space Force since 2020, and before that, it was under the Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). It is one of the three main rocket launch bases for the US space program.

Historical Background of Vandenberg Space Force Base

The Vandenberg Space Force Base has a rich history dating back to 1941 when it was built by the US Army. It served as a training base for infantry troops that were sent to the fronts of World War II. It was reactivated at the start of the Korean War to fulfill the same function. In 1957, it was assigned to the Air Force and transformed into a ballistic missile test base.
