USS Cahuilla and its collection

USS Cahuilla
Source

In 1961, the USS Cahuilla was sold to the Argentine Navy and renamed ARA Irigoyen (A-1). The ship continued to serve until 2009, when it was converted into a museum ship. Today, visitors can explore the ship and learn about its service under two different navies, offering a unique perspective on naval history.

Establishment as a Museum Ship

In January 2010, the ship was transferred to the municipality of San Pedro in the Buenos Aires Province and permanently moored as the Buque Museo Irigoyen. This marked the ship's transition into its current role as a museum ship, the third of its kind in Argentina. The museum opened to the public in May 2010, and visitors can now explore the ship and learn about its rich history.
