The University Museum in Chieti, formerly known as the Museum of History of Biomedical Sciences, is situated in the historic center of the city. It is housed in the former OND building in Piazza Trento and Trieste. This location offers visitors a chance to explore the museum's collections while also enjoying the charm of Chieti's historic center.
The University Museum's collections initially consisted of paleontological, anthropological, and historical materials related to the history of medicine and population. These were temporarily loaned by the Archaeological Superintendency of Abruzzo. This diverse collection provides visitors with a unique insight into the history of medicine and human population over time.
Since 2014, the University Museum has been home to a unique sculpture by Paolo Borghi. The sculpture, which depicts a turtle supporting the city of Chieti on its shell, is located at the side entrance on Via IV Novembre. This piece of art adds a unique touch to the museum and is a must-see for visitors.
