The Turkey Point Light is a historic lighthouse located at the head of the Chesapeake Bay. Despite its tower only being 35-foot (11 m) tall, it stands on 100-foot (30 m) high bluffs, making it the third highest light off the water in the bay. This unique positioning offers visitors a unique perspective and view of the surrounding area.
In 2000, the Turkey Point Light was decommissioned and leased to the non-profit organization, Turkey Point Light Station (TPLS) Inc. This group has since taken over the maintenance of the structure and reactivated the light as a private aid to navigation in 2002. They also replaced the steel ladder in the lighthouse with a new wooden spiral staircase. On weekends, volunteers offer tours of the lighthouse, which include a walk to the top.
