The Tiergarten Falkenstein, originally known as Station junger Forscher, was established in 1953. It is a zoo that remains open throughout the year in the city of Falkenstein/Vogtl. The zoo spans a total area of 1.80 hectares, providing ample space for the animals and visitors.
Tiergarten Falkenstein is home to a diverse range of 188 animals across 61 species. A separate tropical house, opened in 1997, houses 77 animals from 39 different species. The zoo's inhabitants include white tufted monkeys, red-faced macaques, prairie dogs, and Egyptian fruit bats, offering visitors a chance to observe a variety of wildlife.
In addition to the diverse species, Tiergarten Falkenstein also features a kangaroo facility and the largest enclosure is dedicated to brown bears. Other animals that visitors can see include porcupines, maras, emus, llamas, donkeys, and ponies. For those who enjoy a more interactive experience, there is also a petting zoo with goats.
