The Municipal Art Gallery Ignacio Merino, also known as the Pinacoteca de Lima, is a significant cultural institution in Lima, Peru. Managed by the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, the gallery is dedicated to promoting artistic education, experimentation, research, knowledge generation, artistic creation, and cultural exchange in an inclusive manner.
The Municipal Art Gallery Ignacio Merino currently houses approximately 883 cultural assets from various periods. Among its acquisitions, the gallery boasts a collection of 36 canvases by Ignacio Merino, which were bequeathed by the artist before his death in Paris in 1876. Additionally, the gallery acquired a collection of watercolors by Pancho Fierro and his followers in 1954, which now amounts to 250 works.
