La Fábrica de Luz. Museo de la Energía is a cultural and scientific leisure space located in Ponferrada, in the Bierzo region, province of León, autonomous community of Castilla y León, Spain. The museum is situated next to the Centenario Bridge, making it easily accessible for tourists. It offers a unique insight into the role of energy in human life over the centuries.
The museum is housed in a former power station that was operational from 1920 to 1971. This historical building has been transformed into a space where visitors can learn about the relationship between coal and energy from both technological and social perspectives. The restoration of the building has been done respecting the original elements of the power station, making it a significant part of Spanish industrial heritage.
The museum has a second location, inaugurated in March 2023, which serves as the main building. This building is located in the old Compostilla I thermal power station, which was operational from 1949 to 1974. This power station played a significant role in the life, landscape, and development of the area, making it an important part of the museum's narrative.
