The Contemporary Austin, previously known as the Austin Museum of Art, is the main contemporary art museum in Austin, Texas. It comprises two locations and an art school. This museum reflects the spectrum of contemporary art through exhibitions, commissions, education, and its collection. It's locally referred to as The Contemporary.
Facilities at The Contemporary Austin – Jones Center
The Contemporary Austin – Jones Center offers 5,100 square feet of exhibition space. It also features a community room and a rooftop deck that are used for events and educational programs. The building was designed by architects Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis.
Art School at Laguna Gloria
Laguna Gloria, the original location of the museum, also houses The Contemporary Austin's Art School. This is one of the largest museum-affiliated schools in the country, offering year-round classes to both adults and children.
