Temaikèn Zoo and its collection

Temaikèn Zoo
Source

Temaikèn is a biopark situated in Escobar, Buenos Aires, Argentina, approximately 50 kilometers away from Buenos Aires City. The park is owned by the Temaikèn Foundation, a non-profit organization established by Gregorio Pérez Companc. The name 'Temaikèn' is derived from the Tehuelche words 'tem' (land) and 'aikèn' (life), hence it is often referred to as 'land of life'.

Major Areas of the Biopark

The biopark is segmented into four major areas: Africa, Asia, natives, and an aquarium. Each area is designed to represent the respective geographical regions and their unique biodiversity. The native area is particularly significant as it aims to showcase the local flora and fauna of the region.

Interactive Centers at Temaikèn

Temaikèn houses three high-tech Interactive Centers. These centers serve a dual purpose: to pique the curiosity of visitors and to promote direct action towards environmental preservation. Visitors can learn about various species and their habitats, and also about the importance of protecting and preserving them.
