The Telfair Museum of Art, located in Savannah, Georgia, is one of the oldest art museums in the Southern United States. Named after its patron Mary Telfair, the museum is housed in three buildings, two of which are 19th-century historic homes listed as National Historic Landmarks. The museum's collection includes 19th-century furniture and crafts, as well as European and American paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Three Buildings of the Telfair Museum of Art

The Telfair Museum of Art is spread across three distinct buildings: the Telfair Academy, the Owens-Thomas House, and the Jepson Center. Each building offers a unique experience and a different aspect of the museum's extensive collection. The Telfair Academy showcases 19th-century interiors and a collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and decorative arts from the 19th and 20th centuries. The Owens-Thomas House displays furniture from the Owens family and American and European crafts from 1750 to 1830. The Jepson Center, the newest building, hosts changing exhibitions and houses the collection of art historian Kirk Varnedoe, including works on paper by 20th-century artists.
