The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM) is a historical institution situated in the Skillman area of Montgomery Township, New Jersey. This museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich history of African Americans in the region.

Historical Significance of the Museum's Location

The museum is housed in the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, a historic church built in 1899. This church has been recognized for its historical significance and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 7, 2021.

Current Status and Future Plans of the Museum

As of December 2021, the museum is still under development as restoration work is being carried out on the Mt. Zion AME Church. Once open, the museum plans to offer historical exhibits and public programs to educate visitors about the African American history in New Jersey.
