The Steamtrain Hoorn Medemblik museum is dedicated to the steam train in the Netherlands. The museum uses the former freight and classification yard of that station of Hoorn. Steam trams drive from village to village on the railway between Hoorn and Medemblik from 1887. The collection consists of steam tram locomotives, wagons and coaches. The initial stations are still situated along the track.

Steamtrain Hoorn Medemblik has 2 ratings.
The Steamtrain Hoorn Medemblik offers visitors a nostalgic journey through the Dutch countryside. This historical train ride connects the towns of Hoorn and Medemblik, providing passengers with a glimpse into the past of Dutch railway transportation. The experience begins at the well-preserved station in Hoorn, where visitors can admire vintage locomotives and carriages.
During the journey, passengers travel through picturesque landscapes of North Holland, including farmlands and small villages. The train's interior maintains its original early 20th-century charm, complete with wooden benches and classic decor. Volunteers dressed in period uniforms add to the authentic atmosphere.
Many visitors appreciate the knowledgeable staff who share interesting facts about the train's history and the surrounding area. The ride is generally smooth, though some passengers note that the wooden seats can be uncomfortable for longer periods.
A highlight of the experience is the opportunity to see the steam engine in action, with stops allowing passengers to watch the locomotive being turned around or replenished with water. However, some visitors mention that the stops can make the journey feel longer than expected.
The trip can be combined with a boat ride back to Hoorn, which adds variety to the excursion. While most find the overall experience enjoyable, a few visitors feel the ticket prices are somewhat high for the length of the journey.
In summary, the Steamtrain Hoorn Medemblik offers an engaging and educational experience for train enthusiasts and history buffs. It provides a tangible connection to the past, though comfort and journey duration may be considerations for some visitors.
