Source

The Stapferhaus in Lenzburg, Switzerland, has a rich history dating back to 1960 when it was established as a hub for intellectual discourse and social interaction. This unique institution was founded by representatives of Pro Helvetia, Pro Argovia, the Canton Aargau, and the City of Lenzburg, and named after Philipp Albert Stapfer, the founder of the Canton of Aargau. Today, it continues to serve as a vibrant center for thought-provoking discussions and cultural exchange.

Location and Architecture of the Stapferhaus

In 2018, the Stapferhaus found its first permanent home near the Lenzburg railway station. This location now serves as both the exhibition space and the offices for the institution. The building is designed to be flexible and constantly remodelled, with movable stairs and walls, openable floors, and a changeable façade and forecourt. This unique architectural design adds to the dynamic and innovative nature of the Stapferhaus.

Current Exhibition at the Stapferhaus

Until mid-May 2022, the Stapferhaus is hosting an exhibition on the topics of Gender and Sex. This exhibition is a part of the Stapferhaus's commitment to addressing current issues and fostering intellectual debate. Visitors are encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences, and to confront their own perspectives in a welcoming and thought-provoking environment.
