The Iserlohn City Museum, housed in one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in the city, displays objects from 800 years of the city's history in its permanent exhibition. Changing special exhibitions on the cultural history of the city and the region as well as a wide range of educational activities make the museum a cultural meeting point and a place for discussion about the city's history. The basement is not accessible until further notice due to extensive renovation work. The Iserlohn City Museum is considered one of the outstanding sites of industrial culture in Westphalia (WasserEisenLand). It has been the anchor museum of the "Prussia in Westphalia" network since summer 2017. Since 2022, the Iserlohn City Museum has been one of the nationwide "Places of the History of Democracy".
