Lo Speleovivarium is a unique museum and bio-speleology laboratory situated in the San Vito district of Trieste. It is located at the base of the staircase that splits Guido Reni street into two parts. This location offers a unique blend of history, science, and natural beauty, making it an interesting destination for tourists visiting Trieste.
The Speleovivarium museum is uniquely housed in the initial part of an air-raid shelter, which interestingly has a microclimate similar to that of a cave. The shelter extends over 400 meters, providing a unique and immersive experience for visitors. This unique setting adds to the authenticity of the museum's exhibits and provides a real-life context for the study of speleology.
The Speleovivarium museum is open for visits from October to June on Sundays from 10 am to 12 pm. Visits on other days can be arranged by appointment. The museum also offers guided tours for schools, making it an educational destination as well. Additionally, the museum has a conference and projection room with 50 seats, which can be used for various events and presentations.
