Sanden in Veiholmen, one of the sections of Smøla Museum, is an old property that was owned by the Eckhoff family from 1795 until 1984. The museum acquired the property from the heirs after the last of the Eckhoffs, Astrid, passed away in 1983. Today, the property stands as Astrid left it, offering visitors a unique insight into the past.
One of the main attractions of Sanden in Veiholmen is its authentic environment. Visitors are transported back to the time when Astrid and her brother lived there. The dock is adorned with nets and fishing gear, while the boathouse shelters the boats. Inside the house, cups and dishes are arranged as they were in the past, and on the second floor, the beds are made and clothes hang in the closet, just as they were left.
