Cuicuilco is a pre-Columbian archaeological site located in the southern part of Mexico City, specifically in an area known as Pedregal de San Ángel. This ancient city was situated on the southern shore of Lake Texcoco, with the oldest remains dating back to around 1200 BC. The site was definitively abandoned around 150 AD.
The Cuicuilco site is divided into two areas: Cuicuilco A and Cuicuilco B. Cuicuilco A is where the ceremonial center of the ancient city is located. Cuicuilco B, on the other hand, is situated to the west of Cuicuilco A and is part of the Olympic City complex.
Among the monuments built in Cuicuilco, there is a large pyramid with a circular base. The pyramid has a radius of 100 meters at its base and stands about 20 meters high. This pyramid has been restored and is open for visitors to explore.
