The Shushi Carpet Museum was established in 2011 by Vardan Astsatryan and opened its doors to the public in 2013. This museum is a testament to the rich history and culture of carpet weaving in the region, showcasing a variety of carpets from different periods and styles.
The museum's collection is a showcase of the craftsmanship of famous Armenian carpet weavers from various villages in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. These carpets, some of which date back centuries, reflect the rich cultural heritage and the unique weaving techniques of the region.
Currently, the collection from the Shushi Carpet Museum is on display in two locations in Yerevan, Armenia: the National Museum-Institute of Architecture after Alexander Tamanyan and the History Museum of Armenia. Visitors can explore the rich tapestry of Armenian carpet weaving at these venues.
