The Discovery Science Center and Planetarium, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is a hands-on science center that serves as both a tourist destination and an educational resource for area schools. It provides dynamic, hands-on STEM experiences designed to resonate with the innate curiosity, learning desire, and spirit of exploration of visitors.
The science center aims to enhance public understanding of STEM through a variety of resources. These include education programs, planetarium presentations, the Challenger Learning Center, Science on a Sphere, and a variety of permanent and traveling exhibits. These resources provide a comprehensive and engaging way for visitors to learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The Discovery Science Center's Planetarium is a highlight of the center, featuring a 33 feet (10 m) domed ceiling and seating for up to 85 people. It was most recently upgraded in 2021 and presentations are made with a state-of-the-art 4k Digistar System, offering visitors an immersive and high-quality viewing experience.
