The Sharjah Archaeology Museum, established on October 5, 1997, is located in Sharjah, the capital of the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. This museum is the first of its kind in Sharjah, specializing in archaeology on a national level. It showcases a vast collection of artifacts from pre-Islamic eras, discovered in Sharjah, reflecting the rich history and cultural heritage of the region.

Collection of the Sharjah Archaeology Museum

The Sharjah Archaeology Museum houses over one thousand archaeological pieces, dating from pre-Islamic times. These artifacts span a vast period, from the Paleolithic Age, over 120 thousand years ago, until the seventh century A.D. The collection includes utensils, pottery, tools, stone and metallic artifacts, as well as ornaments, jewelry, coins, small animal and human statues, and models of skeletons, burials, and houses discovered in various places in Sharjah.

The Sharjah Archaeology Museum offers visitors an informative journey through the region's ancient history. The museum houses a collection of artifacts dating back to the Stone Age, providing insight into the early settlements and civilizations of the area. Exhibits are well-organized and cover various periods, including the Bronze Age and Iron Age.

Visitors appreciate the museum's chronological layout, which makes it easy to follow the historical narrative. The displays include tools, pottery, jewelry, and weapons, giving a comprehensive view of daily life in ancient times. The museum also features some interesting reconstructions and dioramas that help bring the past to life.

While the museum receives praise for its educational value, some visitors note that it's relatively small and can be thoroughly explored in about an hour. The information provided is generally good, but some guests mention that more detailed explanations in English would enhance the experience for international visitors.

The museum's air-conditioning and clean facilities are positively noted, making it a comfortable place to visit, especially during hot weather. However, a few reviewers mention that the museum could benefit from some updates to its presentation style and interactive elements to engage younger visitors more effectively.

Overall, the Sharjah Archaeology Museum is considered a worthwhile visit for those interested in the region's ancient history, offering a solid foundation for understanding the archaeological heritage of the United Arab Emirates.
