The Sea National Museum, located in São Francisco do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil, was established in 1993. It was created with resources from the strategic investment program of the state government of Santa Catarina and the municipal city hall, with the permanent participation of IPHAN.
The Sea National Museum underwent a revitalization between 2003 and 2004. It now houses a large diversity of Brazilian vessels, including original vessels from all over the country. Some of these vessels are among the most expressive traditional boats in the world.
The Sea National Museum boasts a collection of over sixty full-size boats and about 200 pieces of model making and naval craftsmanship. Each piece in the collection is identified with explanatory texts and images, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the exhibits.
