The Voigtsberg Castle, which was later renamed Schloss Voigtsberg, is a typical high medieval castle. It was significantly damaged during the Thirty Years' War and was subsequently rebuilt into a castle. This transformation has given the structure a unique blend of architectural styles, making it a fascinating site for history and architecture enthusiasts.
Starting from 2022, the keep of Schloss Voigtsberg underwent extensive renovations, funded by public donations. It is now once again open to the public. Visitors can use it as a lookout tower, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. Additionally, it houses a small exhibition that provides insights into the history of the castle and its renovation process.
The structure surrounding the keep of Schloss Voigtsberg is home to the Knights' and Princes' Hall. This grand hall adjoins the Gothic St. George's Chapel, creating a unique combination of secular and religious architecture within the castle. Both the hall and the chapel are notable for their historical significance and architectural beauty.
Since 2011, the basement of Schloss Voigtsberg has been home to a small mineral cabinet, providing an interesting diversion for geology enthusiasts. Additionally, the Princes' Hall features a painting signed by the renowned Italian painter Titian, depicting Archduchess Katharina of Austria. This artwork adds a touch of Renaissance grandeur to the castle.
