La Casa Museo Sarmiento is a museum and library situated on the Sarmiento River, in the town of Tigre, in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. This historic house was once owned by Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, a former president of Argentina who resided there. The museum offers a unique insight into the life and times of Sarmiento, making it a point of interest for those interested in Argentine history.
In 1966, a decree by then President Arturo Umberto Illia declared La Casa Museo Sarmiento a National Historic Monument. Thanks to this decree, the house is preserved today in a manner similar to the rest of the wooden houses of the delta. This preservation allows visitors to experience the house as it was during Sarmiento's time, adding to the authenticity of the museum experience.
