The Santiago Fire Museum, also known as MuBo, is a cultural institution situated in the Santiago Centro commune, in Santiago de Chile. It is a place where visitors can learn about the history and values of the Santiago Fire Department (CBS). The museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the cultural heritage of firefighters, presenting it from various perspectives and connecting with a wide and diverse audience through educational activities and outreach.
The Santiago Fire Museum was inaugurated on June 30, 1980. Its mission is to highlight the importance of the services provided by volunteer firefighters to the city and the country in the 19th century. The museum was initially named after José Luis Claro and was located in the premises of the Santiago Fire Department Headquarters on Santo Domingo Street 978.
The Santiago Fire Museum is organized into four rooms. The first room tells the history of the Santiago Fire Department (CBS). The second room explains the techniques and processes used to extinguish large fires and how emergency calls are handled. The third room refers to the specialties of the volunteers, safety, and environmental care. The fourth room is dedicated to the memory of the institution's martyrs. Each room offers a unique perspective on the work and history of the Santiago Fire Department.
