Samay Huasi, which translates to 'rest house' in Quechua, is a historic property in Argentina that serves dual purposes. It functions as both a vacation retreat and a museum, offering visitors a unique blend of relaxation and cultural enrichment. Located in Chilecito, a town nestled high in the Pampas Sierras of La Rioja Province, the property provides a scenic backdrop for a diverse range of activities.
In 1960, a section of Samay Huasi was designated for the creation of a museum. This museum showcases González's extensive collections of anthropological and geological materials, along with his numerous manuscripts. Visitors to the museum can gain a deeper understanding of the region's history and culture through these exhibits.
In addition to the museum, Samay Huasi is also home to the Antonio Alice Pinacotheca, an art gallery named after the Argentine portrait and historical painter Antonio Alice. The gallery features a variety of works from Argentine painters, offering visitors a glimpse into the country's rich artistic heritage.
