Opened in 2009, the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts showcased an international collection of both historical and contemporary textiles. The collection included embroidery, clothing, lace, samplers, and accessories from various regions including North America, Europe, Africa, Japan, India, and Central Asia.
The museum was named after its founding benefactor, Ruth E. Funk, an artist and designer. Ruth E. Funk donated funds and her collection of international textiles to the museum in 2006, contributing significantly to the museum's diverse collection.
The Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts was closed in 2021. In its place, the Florida Tech Esports Center was instituted, marking a shift in the use of the location.
