    Rumeli Hisarı, also known as Rumelian Castle, is a fortress located in the north of the Bebek district in Istanbul, Turkey. This historical site is situated on a hill in the Rumelian part of the Bosphorus and is named after the surrounding neighborhood. The fortress was built by the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II between 1451 and 1452, prior to the fall of Constantinople.
