Regional Museum of Aysén

The Regional Museum of Aysén is a public institution situated in the city of Coyhaique, in the Aysén Region of Chilean Patagonia. It is part of the National Service of Cultural Heritage and the National System of Museums of Chile. The museum is a significant cultural and historical site that offers visitors a chance to explore the rich heritage of the region.

Museum Grounds and Buildings

The museum is situated on a plot of approximately 3 hectares. This area includes six restored buildings of the Industrial Society of Aysén, which have been declared a National Historic Monument since 2009. In addition to these, a new building has been specially constructed for the museum. This expansive space allows for a comprehensive exploration of the region's cultural and natural heritage.

Facilities at the Museum

The museum offers a variety of facilities for visitors. These include three exhibition areas that showcase the region's cultural and natural heritage, an auditorium for events and presentations, research laboratories, a workshop space for interactive learning, a collection storage, administrative areas, and an outdoor park for relaxation. Since 2019, the museum also features a restaurant/café where visitors can enjoy local cuisine.
