The Archaeological Museum of Ancash is conveniently located opposite the Plaza de Armas in Huaraz. This location is in the district and province of the same name in the Ancash region. Its central location makes it easily accessible for tourists visiting the area.
The Archaeological Museum of Ancash is a three-level building divided into four exhibition rooms. These rooms display a variety of cultural materials including ceramics, textiles, metals, lithic material, and animal and human bones. The museum also houses mummies, providing a comprehensive view of the region's cultural and technological development during the pre-Hispanic era.
The Archaeological Museum of Ancash is home to an interior garden that houses more than 150 stone monoliths, primarily from the Recuay culture. This collection makes it the largest Lithic Park in South America, a unique feature that sets it apart from other museums in the region.
