The Putterham School, a historical one-room schoolhouse, was constructed in 1768. It was originally located at the intersection of Grove and Newton Streets in Brookline, Massachusetts. However, in 1966, the school was relocated to its current location at Larz Anderson Park. This move was a significant event in the school's history, marking a new chapter in its long-standing service to the community.
Today, the Brookline Historical Society maintains the Putterham School as an educational museum. It displays a variety of historical items, including books, teaching aids, and schoolroom equipment. The museum is open to the public from June until October, from noon until 3 pm on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. This offers visitors a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience a piece of Brookline's history.
