Preston Manor, once the manor house of the ancient Sussex village of Preston, is now part of the coastal city of Brighton and Hove in England. This historic building offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the architectural styles and living conditions of different eras.
The current structure of Preston Manor mostly dates back to 1738, when the Lord of the Manor, Thomas Western, rebuilt the original 13th-century structure. Parts of this original structure still remain inside the building. In 1905, Charles Stanley Peach renovated and enlarged the house, giving it its current appearance.
Since 1932, when the Stanford family bequeathed the building to the Brighton Corporation, Preston Manor has served as a museum and exhibition venue. It provides a glimpse into the upper-class life during the Edwardian era, making it a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts.
