The Portland Museum, located in Louisville, Kentucky, is a neighborhood history and art museum. It provides a detailed account of the history of the Portland neighborhood, from its early days as an independent town in the 1800s to its amalgamation into Louisville following the construction of the Portland Canal.
The Portland Museum is comprised of three distinct buildings. These include Beech Grove, a 19th-century Italianate mansion, the former Portland Bridge Baptist Mission Building, and the AHOY House, a renovated Victorian property adjacent to the museum.
The Portland Museum houses exhibits on notable residents of Portland. One of the highlights is an exhibit of paintings by John James Audubon, a renowned ornithologist, naturalist, and painter.
