The Pinacoteca Comunale di Città di Castello is an art museum that is housed in the Palazzo Vitelli alla Cannoniera. This palazzo was constructed by the Vitelli family during the latter half of the 16th century in Città di Castello, a city in the province of Perugia, Italy. The museum has been located in this palazzo since 1912, following the restoration of the building initiated by Elia Volpi, an Italian art dealer and antiquarian.
The collection of the Pinacoteca Comunale di Città di Castello includes a variety of plaster molds of works by Elmo Palazzi, a collection of bronzes by Bruno Bartoccini, and 23 works donated by Ettore Ruggieri. The works created from the 1960s represent the forms and movement of man in the context of his daily life. The collection also includes paintings by Ottone Rosai, Gerardo Dottori, and Giorgio De Chirico, donated by Ettore Ruggieri, a doctor and surgeon who died in 1978.

Pinacoteca Comunale, Città di Castello has 1 rating.
The Pinacoteca Comunale in Città di Castello offers visitors a rich collection of art from the 14th to the 20th centuries. Located in the historic Palazzo Vitelli alla Cannoniera, the museum houses works by notable local artists such as Luca Signorelli and Raffaellino del Colle, as well as pieces by other Italian masters.
Visitors often appreciate the museum's well-curated collection, which provides a comprehensive overview of the artistic heritage of Città di Castello and the Upper Tiber Valley. The palazzo itself, with its Renaissance architecture and frescoes, adds to the overall experience.
On the positive side, the museum is praised for its intimate atmosphere, allowing visitors to enjoy the artworks without crowds. The staff is generally described as helpful and knowledgeable. Many visitors find the audio guide useful for understanding the context and significance of the pieces on display.
However, some visitors note that the museum could benefit from better lighting in certain areas to enhance the viewing experience. Additionally, while the collection is impressive for a small-town museum, it may not be as extensive as some larger city galleries, which could disappoint visitors expecting a more comprehensive collection.
Overall, the Pinacoteca Comunale offers a quality experience for art enthusiasts and those interested in Italian Renaissance and Baroque art, particularly those looking to explore the artistic heritage of the region.
