The Antonio Atza Art Gallery houses the most important collection dedicated to the painter Antonio Atza (Bauladu, 1925 – Sassari, 2009), one of the leading figures of 20th-century Sardinian art. The permanent exhibition traces the main stages of his artistic career, highlighting the continuous experimentation that led him to develop a distinctive and highly personal style. The works on display reveal a creative journey shaped by surrealist, symbolic and experimental influences, with particular attention to themes related to humanity, nature and Mediterranean identity. The collection includes works from Atza’s most celebrated series, such as the Sands, Blues and Kites, which testify to the extraordinary originality and versatility of his artistic vision. The gallery also features works by other prominent contemporary Sardinian artists, offering visitors a broader insight into the artistic landscape of the island during the 20th century. Today, the Antonio Atza Art Gallery represents an important cultural institution and one of the main reference points for the appreciation of Antonio Atza’s work and contemporary Sardinian art.
