Picton Castle and Gardens, located near Haverfordwest in Wales, offers visitors a blend of history and natural beauty. The 13th-century castle, with its Georgian wing, houses an impressive collection of artwork and antiques that showcase the region's rich heritage. The surrounding 40 acres of gardens are a highlight, featuring well-maintained lawns, woodland walks, and a variety of themed gardens including a walled garden and a Mediterranean garden. Visitors often praise the tranquil atmosphere and the opportunity to explore both indoors and outdoors. The on-site café receives positive mentions for its pleasant setting and quality refreshments. Some visitors note that parts of the castle interior can feel a bit dated, and occasionally there are comments about the admission price being on the higher side. However, most find the experience worthwhile, especially for those interested in horticulture or Welsh history. The castle also offers events and activities throughout the year, which add value to repeat visits. While it may not be as grand as some other castles in Wales, Picton Castle and Gardens provides a pleasant day out with its combination of historical architecture, art collections, and beautiful gardens.
