The Painted Post Station is a historical railway station that was part of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. It is located in the town of Painted Post, within Steuben County, New York. This station was a significant part of the railroad line that stretched from New York to Buffalo since around 1881.
Since 2000, the Painted Post Station has served as a local office for the Corning-Painted Post Historical Society. This highlights the station's importance in the local history and heritage. Furthermore, the station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, further emphasizing its historical significance.
Since its closure as a railway station, the Painted Post Station has been repurposed as a local museum. It houses a collection of artifacts, stories, images, historical documents, and audio and video recordings. These materials serve to interpret the history of the villages of Painted Post and Erwin, while also providing a glimpse into the common history of the region.
