The Olaf-Gulbransson-Museum Tegernsee is a significant cultural destination that houses the works of the Norwegian painter and draftsman Olaf Gulbransson. In addition to Gulbransson's works, the museum also showcases the works of his student, Josef Oberberger. The museum is known for hosting exhibitions on the history of caricature, featuring contemporary cartoonists and illustrators, as well as exhibitions on the art of classical modernism.
The Olaf-Gulbransson-Museum Tegernsee underwent significant expansions in 1993 and 2007/2008. An underground exhibition space was added in 1993, providing more room for the museum's extensive collection. In 2007/2008, a new building was erected next to the museum, largely underground in the spa park. This new building includes a new entrance with a cash desk and shop, two additional exhibition rooms, as well as storage and administrative rooms.
The Olaf-Gulbransson-Museum Tegernsee offers a variety of exhibits for visitors to explore. Permanent exhibits include Gulbransson's paintings and a detailed documentation on the history of the satirical magazine Simplicissimus, with a focus on Gulbransson's contributions. In addition to these permanent exhibits, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions that include Gulbransson's drawings, lithographs by Daumier, and works by Oberberger.
