The Odenwälder Freilandmuseum is an open-air museum located in Gottersdorf, a district of Walldürn. It is managed by the Förderverein Odenwälder Freilandmuseum e.V. The museum is open to the public from the 1st of April until the end of October each year, providing a unique opportunity to explore the history and culture of the region.

Historical Buildings and Monuments

The museum grounds are home to seventeen buildings and small monuments, which originate from the Odenwald and Bauland regions and date back to the 17th to 20th century. These structures were carefully dismantled at their original locations and faithfully reconstructed on the museum grounds, a process known as translocation. This allows visitors to get a realistic insight into the simple life and work environment over the last 300 years in the Odenwald and the surrounding rural regions.
