Ocean Park Aquarium is a privately owned oceanarium that is situated about 10 km south of Denham in the Shark Bay area of Western Australia. This location is a significant attraction for tourists in the region, offering a unique opportunity to explore the marine life of the area.
Visitors to the Ocean Park Aquarium can experience a variety of marine creatures on display. These include coralfish, butterflyfish, clownfish, lionfish, stonefish, moray eel, stingrays, sea snakes, octopus, and crustaceans. All these species are housed in the indoor aquarium centre, providing a close-up view of the diverse marine life.
The flagship display of the Ocean Park Aquarium is the 'Shark Lagoon', a 3.5 ML (920,000 US gal) exhibit. Here, visitors can see kingfish, trevally, and estuary cod cohabitating with sandbar shark, sicklefin lemon sharks, and tiger shark. These sharks are publicly fed six times daily, providing an exciting spectacle for visitors.
In addition to the marine displays, Ocean Park Aquarium also offers diving experiences, shark feedings, and other tours to visitors for an additional cost. These activities provide a more immersive experience, allowing visitors to interact more closely with the marine life.
