The Núcleo de Arqueologia Cerca da Vila is a museum situated in the city of Torres Novas, Portugal. It is owned by the Torres Novas City Council and is housed in the Alvarenga Building. This museum is dedicated to the dissemination of archaeological finds from the surrounding region, dating from prehistory to the Middle Ages.
The museum currently houses all the finds from the region related to the Neanderthal lineage, and all their relationship with Paleoanthropology and Paleolithic Archaeology. The finds span the entire Karst system associated with the source of the Almonda River. One of the most significant finds presented is a human skull fossil from about 400,000 years ago, the oldest skull ever discovered in Portugal.
