The Evolution of the Museum

The Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre initially operated out of the CN Caboose #77562 in Prescott Park, showcasing a small display of railroad memorabilia. In 1997, the museum expanded by acquiring the former home of the superintendent of the Canadian Northern Railway and Canadian National Railway. This building was converted into the NORMHC Museum House and serves as the main site of the museum, offering a more extensive collection of exhibits for visitors to explore.

Prescott Park and its Attractions

Prescott Park, named after the former mayor of Capreol, Harold Prescott, is an integral part of the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre. The park houses the museum's outdoor locomotive and rolling stock exhibits. Additionally, it features the museum's G-Scale model train outdoor layout and a children's play structure, making it a family-friendly destination.
