The Nau Capitânia is a replica of a Portuguese caravel, a type of ship that was used during the era of great discoveries. This replica was built to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Brazil. It is a significant piece of history that provides a glimpse into the maritime past of the country.
Since September 2009, the Nau Capitânia has been on display at the Espace Culturel de la Marine, located in the center of Rio de Janeiro. It is identified as the Nau dos Descobrimentos, or Ship of Discoveries, a fitting name for a vessel that represents a significant period in history.
