The Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania was originally built in the 15th century for the rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the future Kings of Poland. Now a museum, visitors to the palace can follow 4 routes inside the palace. Route 1 includes the surviving authentic walls as well as the rich collection of archaeological artefacts. Route 2 presents the stylistic development of the residence of the Lithuanian grand dukes through the Late Gothic, Renaissance and Early Baroque epochs. Route 3 shows the Lithuanian grand dukes' castle and palace fortifications and weapons collection and route 4 is the museum's exhibition centre.
