The Museum of Modern Art Wörlen, located in the old town of Passau, was founded in 1990 by architect and art patron Hanns Egon Wörlen. This museum is a forum for modern and contemporary art, with a mission to bridge the gap between East and West.
The museum hosts changing special exhibitions featuring works by internationally renowned artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. This includes artists like Lyonel Feininger, Keith Haring, Jiří Kolář, Egon Schiele, Antoni Tàpies, Eduardo Chillida, Salvador Dalí, Franz West, Max Beckmann, Pablo Picasso, Yoko Ono, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Horst Janssen, Jürgen Klauke, Rudolf Klaffenböck and Yves Klein.
Located in the heart of the old town of Passau and on the banks of the Danube, the Museum of Modern Art Wörlen boasts an exhibition area of almost 1000 m² spread across three levels. The museum is housed in a unique ensemble of four former independent old town houses, featuring architectural elements from the Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Classicism periods.
