Museum of Italian Art and its collection

Museum of Italian Art
Source

The Museum of Italian Art boasts a diverse collection of bronze and marble sculptures, paintings, and ceramics from over 120 Italian artists from the early 20th century. This collection provides a comprehensive overview of Italian art during this period, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in art history.

Architectural Significance

The museum building, a neorenaissance-style edifice, has been well-preserved since its inauguration. The project was commissioned to the Milanese architect Gaetano Moretti, who also designed La Fuente China, another gift to Peru from the Chinese community during the same celebrations. The architecture of the museum is a work of art in itself, adding another layer of interest for visitors.

Facilities and Location

The Museum of Italian Art is conveniently located in the historic center of Lima, on the second block of the Avenida Paseo de la República, right across from the Museum of Art of Lima. The museum features a large garden, ample parking, and six exhibition rooms that house its permanent collection and traveling exhibitions. This makes it an accessible and comfortable place for visitors to explore.

Temporary Exhibitions

In addition to its permanent collection, the Museum of Italian Art has hosted several temporary exhibitions over the years. These have included 'Paisajes Memorias', featuring the acrylic paintings of Herman Braun-Vega in 1988, 'Giotto in Padua' in 2004, and 'From myth to dream (Rodin... Dalí)' in 2008-2009. These exhibitions offer visitors the chance to experience a wider range of art and artists.
